The Pulfrich effect is based on delaying a weakened visual stimulus. When the camera is in continuous, smooth, and preferably linear motion, the eye looking through a suitably darkened filter sees a delayed image, which can be compared to a view from a slightly different perspective.
This is an excellent and interesting alternative to the standard creation of images using colored lenses, as the video can be viewed in 2D without glasses, while wearing the glasses allows viewers to enjoy a surprising and little-known three-dimensional effect produced by tricking the brain with a delayed signal from one eye.
